Same Product, Different Images

The United Kingdom, the United States and the West have different views on modesty and control than those of Saudi Arabia.

In the West women and men can both wear and do, pretty much, anything they wish. Whereas in Saudi Arabia the men ruling the country tell women what they can and cannot wear and do. For example, women have to stay covered up and are not allowed to wear make up that shows off their beauty. Women in Saudi Arabia are also not allowed to stand for elected office or compete freely in sports events^[1].

Saudi Arabia is a very Conservative country who are making small improvements to change how they treat women. For example, as of 2018 women are now allowed to drive cars.

But Saudi Arabia have a long way to go as this meeting of the Girls Council demonstrates by having no women representatives.

Below are examples of how product images have been changed for the Saudi Arabian market. Some have consciously removed women to please the Saudi Market. Others have covered up women because it was believed to inappropriate.

We feel strongly that everybody should be treated equally regardless of sex, gender, disability or race.
